About Us

Violet Crown Canine Academy is owned and operated by Emma and Olivia Vescovo.

We have been involved with dogs since taking our first agility class with the family Labrador in 2000. Since then we have gone on to train and compete multiple dogs of differing breeds in multiple dog sports venues including agility, dock diving, scent work, and barn hunt. We have always been passionate about dog training using positive, reward-based methods.

Hi! I am Olivia Vescovo, and I have been training dogs professionally since 2011. My focus is on puppy raising and socialization, and a variety of dog sports like agility, scent work, and dock diving. I am a canine scent work instructor at Austin Canine Central and Hearts & Paws. I am an animal wrangler with Hit The Mark Animal Talent. In my spare time, I am also a dog sports photographer with my business Joyful Paws ATX.

Russel, my cattle dog mix, competes in Master AKC scent work and jumps in the Senior division (15ft-19ft) of North America Diving Dogs. Russel is a Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dog Intermediate, and has been featured in several national commercials for companies like Tractor Supply and Pedigree.

Winger, my Golden Retriever, competes in Excellent AKC scent work and jumps in the Elite division (24ft+) of North America Diving Dogs. He is the #3 ranked Golden Retriever in NADD for 2020. He is in training for agility, with plans to compete in fall 2021. Winger has been in print campaigns and commercials for companies like Michael's Craft Stores and Adequan Canine.

Summer is from Soulfull is Pawsible rescue. She is 1 year old Airedale Terrier mix and is still learning all her good dog skills. She has started scent work training and is showing a good aptitude for the sport! She has been featured in a Nylabone advertisement, and will attend her first nosework competition this fall.

Josie is the best Chihuahua anyone could ask for! She went all the way through scent work training, and although she is a capable Containers dog, scent work was ultimately not her sport. She now lives as my companion and occasional model and has been featured in photographer Randal Ford's Good Dogs portrait book as well as print campaigns for companies like United Health Care.

Sprat is the newest addition to the crew! She is a 6 moth old terrier mix from Soulfull is Pawsible rescue. She has just started training and is enjoying being an adorable puppy.

I have been training dogs professionally since 2011. My main focus is on dog sports like scent work, agility, and barn hunt, as well as raising confident puppies and helping shy dogs come out of their shells. I am a canine scent work instructor at Austin Canine Central, DePaw Dog Sports, and Doggie Day Out.

Panda is a mixed breed adopted from Papillon Haven rescue. She is the dog that got Olivia and I started in scent work! I needed a class that did not have a prerequisite, and scent work was the only one offered. It quickly became clear that Panda excelled at the sport! In 2018 I signed up for our first scent work trial. Panda earned qualifying scores in the elements she was entered in, and I was hooked. After convincing Olivia to take scent work classes with her dogs, our instructor, Kathryn Butts, convinced us to start teaching Intro classes and the rest is history. Panda now competes at the Master level in AKC and I am starting my qualifications to become an AKC Scent Work judge. Panda also competes in Open AKC agililty.

Ducky is a Nederlanse Kooikerhondje. She is my first conformation show dog and my introduction to the world of rare dog breeds. Ducky competes in the Advanced level in AKC scent work and jumps in the Novice division of NADD dock diving. Ducky has also earned her Trick Dog Novice. Her main love is water and her favorite activity is swimming non-stop in the pool.

Tad Cooper is my newest addition. He is also a Nederlanse Kooikerhondje and a conformation show prospect. He will show in his first event this fall. There are big plans in place for Tad’s future!
