I have been training dogs professionally since 2011. My main focus is on dog sports like scent work, agility, and barn hunt, as well as raising confident puppies and helping shy dogs come out of their shells. I am a canine scent work instructor at Austin Canine Central, DePaw Dog Sports, and Doggie Day Out.
Panda is a mixed breed adopted from Papillon Haven rescue. She is the dog that got Olivia and I started in scent work! I needed a class that did not have a prerequisite, and scent work was the only one offered. It quickly became clear that Panda excelled at the sport! In 2018 I signed up for our first scent work trial. Panda earned qualifying scores in the elements she was entered in, and I was hooked. After convincing Olivia to take scent work classes with her dogs, our instructor, Kathryn Butts, convinced us to start teaching Intro classes and the rest is history. Panda now competes at the Master level in AKC and I am starting my qualifications to become an AKC Scent Work judge. Panda also competes in Open AKC agililty.
Ducky is a Nederlanse Kooikerhondje. She is my first conformation show dog and my introduction to the world of rare dog breeds. Ducky competes in the Advanced level in AKC scent work and jumps in the Novice division of NADD dock diving. Ducky has also earned her Trick Dog Novice. Her main love is water and her favorite activity is swimming non-stop in the pool.
Tad Cooper is my newest addition. He is also a Nederlanse Kooikerhondje and a conformation show prospect. He will show in his first event this fall. There are big plans in place for Tad’s future!
